Our Mission

Peace and Solace for the weary.

Who doesn't want peace and solace? Everyone wants such gifts, but they are at times hard to come by. What we hope is to help nurture a space within you, in such a way that you can "feel" the peace (shalom in Hebrew) of that space. Solace (the word has its derivation from the Latin meaning "sun") imparts a certain warmth and sense of comfort. This comfort is meant to be passed on, carried.

Care and Comfort for those in need.

All of us are in need, at some points in time more than others. We monastics have all known neediness and discomfort. Who better to shepherd hospitality than folks who have "been there and known that" in their lives. We are constantly looking for ways to be better caring and comforting Christians. We also are well aware that whatever gifts we have to offer, we are gifted immensely in the people who share their lives with us.

Prayer for God's people

A group of Orthodox-Catholic Church in prayer

In the past several years there have been studies that seem to indicate that prayer is quite effective. There are also studies indicating that prayer has little or no effect. We are not bound by the results of any study, whether pro or con. We ARE bound by the promise of Jesus who tells us in the Gospel that where two or three are gathered, the Risen One is present with us. And it is the Risen Jesus who really does the caring and comforting as well as the prodding and pushing so that we can help along God's reign.
